EV Chargers.
Pair your electric vehicle with a powerful and reliable EV charger. Harnessing the combination of solar energy and electric vehicles offers an economical and environmentally friendly transportation solution.
No less than 51 countries around the world have announced plans to implement a ban on the sale of new traditional petrol and diesel engines, with various dates for those rules kicking in across the next 5+ years. We can confirm, the future of the automotive industry is electric!
How Does EV Charging Work?
EV Charging comes in 3 levels. New EV’s often come with a supplied Level 1 EV charger, which is a simple and cheap charging solution that can be plugged into regular electrical outlets and delivers a maximum power rate of 2.4kW to EVs. Level 1 charging will not fully charge an EV overnight. Level 1 and 2 chargers are residential charging options with Level 3 chargers usually found at commercial sites such as gas stations and dedicated EV Charging sites.
Level 2 EV Charges are the most popular form of at-home EV Charging and involve installing a mounted charging system usually in your garage. Installing a level 2 charger is a better long-term solution, delivering faster charging, the ability to program charge times and co-ordinate with a solar system and battery to maximise your savings. A dedicated, wall-mounted Level 2 charging unit usually delivers 7kW from a single-phase connection, or 22kW from a three-phase connection. At home, Level 2 chargers can provide a full charge overnight. These units must be installed by a qualified electrician with experience in the solar industry.
A level 2 EV Charger will charge a small to medium vehicle battery (approx. 40kWh) in about 5.5 hours and a large vehicle battery (approx. 75kWh) in about 10.5 hours. Level 2 chargers come in different Kilowatt Sizes, the size of which greatly impacts the charging times on your vehicle. Take this into consideration when deciding what size level 2 charger to purchase and install.
For example, the Tesla Model 3 is the best selling EV in Australia and features a 50kWh battery. Charging this EV to 100% with a Level 2 3.6kW EV charger takes around 13 hours and 50 minutes. A Level 2 9.6kW charger will take around 5 hours and 10 minutes and a 22kW Level 2 charger will do the job in as little as 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Installing an Electric Vehicle (EV) charger offers several benefits, contributing to a seamless and sustainable lifestyle. Beyond the convenience of charging at home, an EV charger ensures that your electric vehicle is always ready for the road, eliminating the need for frequent stops at public charging stations.
Additionally, home charging allows users to take advantage of lower electricity rates during off-peak hours, resulting in potential cost savings. By installing an EV charger, you contribute to the growth of a cleaner, greener future, reducing dependence on traditional fuel sources and promoting sustainable transportation practices.
